Marine Technical Limits are delighted that their Lead Naval Architect, Ian Stewart, has been elected onto the Board of the Society of Offshore Marine Warranty Surveyors (SOMWS). The Marine Warranty Surveying specialist has been appointed to support the development and training of personnel within the industry.
The Society was established in 2017. It is the international organisation for all concerned with warranting of marine operations and has a focus on integrity and quality. The organisation provides leadership, upholds standards, and develops and shares knowledge within the Marine Warranty Surveying sector. Further to this, it has three key aims. Firstly, to work within the global marine energy and construction communities. Secondly, to uphold the status, standards and knowledge of marine warranty surveyors worldwide. Thirdly, to promote the development of marine warranty surveying and provide opportunities for the exchange of ideas and practices.
Ian has been involved in executing and managing Marine Warranty projects for many years now. As a Marine Warranty Surveying Specialist, his experience includes green field, brown field, renewables, transport, and decommissioning projects. Furthermore, he has used this experience to develop our independent Marine Warranty Surveying offering and we are pleased to see his expertise recognised through this appointment.
Ian added; “I am delighted and honoured to have been elected onto the SOMWS board helping to grow and develop the Society. I am looking forward to contributing to the development of the Society. My focus will be providing guidance on the training and education of new surveyors; as well as the sharing of lessons learnt across the industry.”
