As we move into what is shaping up to be an incredibly busy last quarter of 2023, it would be remiss of us if we didn’t take a moment to recognise the contribution of our 2023 cohort of summer students, Max Summers and Hardie Crawford.
Max and Hardie joined us on summer internships from University of Strathclyde where they are studying Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. They proved themselves great additions to our team, with their enthusiasm, knowledge and willingness to learn. Working alongside our specialist in-house naval architects, engineers and developers, they had direct access to oil and gas industry experts with a wealth of practical experience and knowledge, to gain an understanding of the work they carry out for FPSO owners and operators worldwide, including:
- Understanding of FPSO hull design and construction
- Fundamental aspects of structural integrity management of FPSOs
- Practical and safety aspects of carrying out hull structural repairs on FPSOs
MTL have been offering paid summer placements to up and coming talent for 11 years now, from both local and national universities, with 23 students having come through the door and completed internships; several successfully gaining employment with MTL.
We are committed to supporting the next generation of talent entering the industry and look forward to starting the search for our 2024 interns.
