Ventilation & Power Skid (VPS)
Making FPSO Confined Space Entry and Repairs Safer, Faster, and More Cost-Effective.
The Ventilation & Power Skid (VPS) is a self-contained, ATEX/IECEx Zone 1 certified system designed to deliver safe ventilation, power distribution, and atmospheric monitoring for tank cleaning, inspection, and hotwork repairs on FPSOs and other offshore assets. The VPS enables critical confined space work to be completed on-station, eliminating the need for costly and disruptive drydocking.
Key Benefits
• Eliminate Downtime: Carry out essential confined space entry, repairs and maintenance while the FPSO remains in production, avoiding drydock costs and operational interruptions.
• Enhanced Safety: Continuous ventilation, integrated gas and smoke detection, and automatic safety shutdowns create a controlled, lower-temperature environment for the workforce.
• Boost Productivity: Conditioned tanks reduce fatigue and heat stress, enabling more effective man-hours and faster project completion.
• Asset Longevity: In-situ repairs keep assets compliant, reliable, and operational for longer.
• Proven Offshore Solution: Developed over nearly two decades of direct FPSO repair experience, specifically engineered for offshore environments.
System Features
• High-Performance Ventilation: 30kW centrifugal fan delivers high-pressure air supply, and supports ducting runs of over 100 metres
• Flexible Power Distribution: Smart power unit with individually protected sockets for lighting, extraction, and hotwork equipment. Logic controlled hotwork power isolation ensures safety without disrupting essential systems.
• Advanced Safety Monitoring: Continuous sampling for hydrocarbons and smoke, with automatic shutdown and fail-safe damper. Positive pressure detection ensures ducting integrity.
• Rugged, Offshore-Ready Build: Corrosion- resistant materials and protective coatings withstand tropical climates, humidity, and harsh marine conditions.
• Modular & Expandable: Optional accessories include hotwork distribution skids (for increased repair project demands), additional damper units, and emergency stop reels for larger or more complex operations.
Technical Highlights
• Ventilation Capacity: Up to 25,200 m³/hr,
with ducting lengths >100m
• Power Supply: 440V 200A input, multiple
protected outlets (110V and 440V)
• Certification: ATEX/IECEx Zone 1
• Operating Temperature Range: -20°C to +40°C
• Dimensions: 3568mm x 2120mm x 4448mm (LWH)
(inc. inlet stack)
• Weight: 3.6 tonnes
Applications
• Tank cleaning, inspection, and hotwork repairs on FPSOs and offshore platforms.
• Confined space entry and structural repairs performed alongside asset production.
• Atmospheric conditioning of very large confined spaces, to increase working times.
